How to get to Na'ama Bay

From Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport to Na'ama Bay

The International Airport for Na'ama Bay is the Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport on the site of the former Ofira Airport built by the Israeli Air Force during the occupation.  Today it is a modern international airport with a brand new Terminal 1 inaugurated in 2007 with a capacity of 5 million passengers per year over two levels.  Using themes of both boats and tents it shows it's connection to the location and the people of the sea and the desert that make Sharm el-Sheikh a unique place to visit.

By Taxi

Whether you are coming to or from the airport you'll find plenty of taxis at the terminal 1.  They run 24 hours a day and can take you directly from the airport to the Na'ama Bay destinations including major buildings and hotels.

If you are going from hotel to the airport then it is best to book the taxi in advance from your hotel, this ensure the highest reliability and offers you a set price as hotels have pre-negotiated with their taxi companies.

However when you arrive at the airport you will need to select a taxi from the taxi rank, be sure to negotiate a price beforehand and know that it is normal in Egypt for there to be no extra price for luggage to be carried in the taxi.

By Bus

There are also private minibus companies who offer services throughout the Sharm el Sheikh region for both locals and visitors, there are bus stops for these outside the passenger terminal 1.  However during the trip there are no bus stops but rather passengers may request to be dropped outside any known building, therefore it is necessary to be able to tell the driver where you wish to go. Of course they are familiar with all the major hotels in the region.

From the airport to any of the Na'ama Bay resorts and hotels is less than 15 minutes, so be sure to discuss in advance with the driver the appropriate fee.  Payment in advance is appropriate with the minibus.

From Cairo to Na'ama Bay

From Cairo to Na'ama Bay is about an hour on an airplane, then half an hour in a taxi.  Or alternatively coaches are available but these take about 6 or 7 hours and it is a very long drive, longer if you stop for lunch etc.

The trip the other way, as a day or overnight trip to Cairo from Na'ama Bay is also common. Such tours can be arranged before hand online, or by the tour desk in your hotel.

From Sharm al-Sheikh (Sharm El Maya) Old Town to Na'ama Bay

Only about 5km are from the Old Town which is known as Sharm el Maya including the old market.  Although not many historical structures remain here it is still a thriving Bazaar though today it is mostly for visitors.

Shuttle busses run from all major resorts in the region to the Old City, and typically run several times a day.

From Nabq to Na'ama Bay

Staying in one of the resorts in Nabq? It's easy to get toe Na'ama Bay from there, as you may have noticed the roads are excellent and not at all busy. However the distance is a bit longer, so it isn't a walk! In fact by road you will travel over 20km, so to take a Taxi it will be around E£50 Egyptian Pounds.   Taxis arranged by the hotel should have a fixed price, which you and the driver will know before you start, while the Blue and White outside taxis need to have their price negotiated and it may end up cheaper.

However most hotels have a shuttle bus that either goes to or leaves from Na'ama Bay, so investigate these options. They are either free for guests or a small fee which is much lower than a taxi. Of course you are then limited to the schedule of the hotel bus, but they of course arrange them at suitable times for their guests who are going to dinner or shopping.

Sightseeing and beaches

Around the peninsular lie monuments to the history of Egypt, both pharonic, Christian and Islamic. A mixture of all delights for tourist and traveller alike Na'ama Bay is a one of a kind holiday destination.

While much of the beach area is privately owned by the hotels, and gates on the road declare this, if you are a guest on any of them then you can walk freely along the whole length of the beach and of course stop in and visit restaurants and bars of the various resorts.
